Dae Sung Ro (대성로) Information

Tucked away in the heart of Los Angeles, Dae Sung Ro (대성로) offers a warm, cozy spot for anyone craving authentic Korean BBQ and traditional Korean dishes. Located at 3101 W 8th St, this restaurant captures the essence of Korean comfort food, with a rich menu that’s bound to satisfy both seasoned fans of Korean cuisine and those new to the experience.

The first thing that stands out when you step into Dae Sung Ro is its inviting atmosphere. It’s casual, with a friendly vibe that feels like home, perfect for a laid-back meal with friends or family. The décor is simple yet traditional, with wooden tables and low lighting creating a relaxed ambiance. Whether you're a first-timer or a regular, the staff makes you feel welcome, and service is efficient without being rushed. They’re quick to explain the menu and offer recommendations, especially for those who might be unfamiliar with the many Korean BBQ options available.

The menu is a mix of classic BBQ dishes and other beloved Korean comfort foods. If you're in the mood for grilling your own meal, the BBQ options are excellent. The marinated meats, especially the galbi (short ribs), are flavorful and tender, grilled to perfection right at your table. The smoky aroma that fills the air adds to the experience, making it feel like a true Korean BBQ feast. For those who prefer something lighter, the bibimbap is a crowd-pleaser. Served hot with a fried egg on top, it’s a perfect mix of vegetables, rice, and seasoned meat, topped off with a spicy gochujang (Korean chili paste) for that extra kick.

But Dae Sung Ro isn't just about BBQ. They also offer an array of stews and soups, ideal for those looking to enjoy a warm, hearty meal. The kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) is a standout, delivering a deep, tangy flavor with just the right amount of spice. Pair it with a side of rice, and you've got a meal that’s both comforting and satisfying.

What really sets this place apart, though, is its attention to detail in the little things. The banchan (side dishes) are fresh and varied, offering a nice contrast to the richness of the BBQ. You’ll find everything from pickled radish to savory kimchi, all enhancing the flavors of the main dishes. And don’t forget about the drinks. They offer a solid selection of traditional Korean beverages, including refreshing barley tea, which complements the meal beautifully.

Located in a lively part of the city, Dae Sung Ro has become a local favorite, thanks to its consistently great food and welcoming environment. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the mood for a genuine Korean meal that offers both variety and authenticity.

What People's Say About Place

New sprawling kbbq place that is always busy which is a good thing. They have all of the favs like brisket, pork belly, finger rib meat. All the cuts are great quality. Expect to wait for a while if on a weekend night. Service gets slow if there are a lot of people. They will also help you cook your food but be expected to cook yourself.

This place has delicious ribs and pork rinds. The parking lot is small, so valet service is often impossible. It's a traditional Korean restaurant. It's fun to eat while watching a Dodgers game. The wait was long, 40 minutes.

Great food ! 1st time at one of these places. It was a nice experience. We enjoyed the BBQ grill in the center of our table. They had lots of alcholic drinks so ...if that's your thing you will especially like it. It was a little pricey.

I visited for the first time and the meat was really delicious. The steamed egg and doenjang stew were also excellent. Parking was very difficult, and if you’re going with teens, it’s better to visit right when they open because the evening crowd is mostly people drinking. The place can get a bit loud, but it has a fun and lively atmosphere. Prices are mid-range (around $50 per meat order), and the side dishes and vegetables were very fresh. I’d definitely go back again.

Walked into this place while trying to find another Korean restaurant. When we I saw that it was filled with Koreans patrons I thought that it must be a good and it turned out to be correct. We managed to get the second last table and people were waiting in line after 10 minutes (locals too). The food came out really quick and it was really delicious. We went for set 2 for $87.99 and it was enough meat to feed the four of us. Their Kimchi was delicious and plentiful and the server cooked the meat to perfection. The only thing I will add is that you will smell like a bbq after eating here but that is similar to many Korean bbq restaurants.

Popped into this place randomly on Sunday evening after my buddies 40th birthday. Very dark and moody and lively inside. The service was pretty great. We’ve never been there before we weren’t sure what to order, and the servers helped us with everything once we made a decision. We ordered a combo for three people, and I think we had pork belly and several beef options, the soup that we had was fantastic, it was just the perfect amount of food . We weren’t drinking so I think we might’ve missed out on some shots going down between the staff and the tables at the end of the night, but it was fun to watch everybody . Rarely in the side of town, this was a random decision to go here and I’m so glad we did .

Dae Sung Ro is a really great spot for authentic Korean BBQ and hotpot. The place feels clean and modern, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The BBQ meats were fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly at the table. We all loved the Sundubu and the corn cheese there. Everything felt authentic and well-prepared. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you’re craving real Korean BBQ. I’d definitely go back.

Really tasty K-BBQ. Our new favorite place: just wish we lived closer. The servers were very attentive and the food was outstanding. Definitely reasonable prices. We are so glad we tried Dae Sung Ro for dinner!
